Jeeze...long time since I actually, like, updated
Nov. 11th, 2008 | 11:16 am
Okay, so, since my last full post...
I'm going to try to do this in order
-I broke my collarbone last August and was out of riding for 3.5 weeks. This happened like two days before my sophmore year of college started.
-I won NaNo for the first time.
-My trainer up north moved back to England and I switched to riding with another trainer and another barn up there.
-I did an internship in San Francisco that made me decide to switch majors and then colleges. I'm now and Advertising major at the Art Institute.
-I got hooked on the Twilight series.
-I moved into an appartment by myself.
-A very close friend, who taught me a lot passed away.
-I've started seeing a guy, and he's really awesome.
-And I'm the ML for NaNo in South County.
and that's just the major stuff......

Aug. 7th, 2007 | 03:56 pm
I just got released from my college meal plan...so my parents will be helping me with food (I have a lot of allergies, so the caf food is dangerous...lol). I used to be paying for all my food myself, but now I won't have to and I can use that $ to show. Yes! *fist pump*

A Fall...And a new Helmet
Jul. 27th, 2007 | 12:58 am
Other than the fall, I had a fairly good lesson. Flat work only, but I tried some new things re collection, so that was pretty cool.
Anyway, Rocky spooked at some little yellow flowers blowing in the wind. All of a sudden I was off balence. I was almost able to right myself when he continued the spook and I ended up on the ground.
I fell face first, hitting the brim of my helmet (though not my head, thankfully). I got tons of dirt up my nose, but I was okay and I got right back up. A little quickly for my trainer, though it felt like forever to me. LOL.
Anyways, I always check my helmet over after a fall...although in previous falls I had never hit the helmet itself. I noticed that the plastic in the back was falling off, and I know that after you crash, you need to buy a new one.
So...down to the tack shop we go.
I wanted something I could show in if I want, because I'm totally thinking about showing in the near future. That leaves me the choice between a GPA type thing (which I think looks ugly, frankly, esp on my small head) and a more traditionall huntcap type deal. The only velvet one they had in my size was the Troxel Grand Prix. I was a little wary because Troxels are usually so bulky, but this one totally isn't and looks much better on my head (and is more comfortable) than my old one.
Here's what the new one looks like:

Another Great Lesson! And thinking about jobs...
Jul. 19th, 2007 | 10:47 pm
mood:
excited
I worked with the same horse again. He's just a darling. He isn't the most experenced jumper, but he's so willing and honest that he tries for you...he always gives it everything he's got.
We did more work at about 1'9 at the canter. I'm starting to develop a feel for the distances, and so is he.
I'm really starting to be bitten by the "I really really wanna show bug." I had told myself I wouldn't show until I was jumping 2 feet, and I plan on sticking to that, but I didn't expect to be so close to that goal so soon, I guess. I also thought that being away and not training in Italy would be more of a setback than it was.
Basically, I'm going to need a better job this year. I want to be able to take two lessons a week, and maybe start showing next year? Maybe? It will be hard to find a job I can do because of my back issues (it's hard for me to be on my feet for a long period of time), but I'm willing to start looking, because I know I can always go back to my old, boring, lowish paying job with few hours if I need to. I just seem to never have enough money no matter what I do...
Ah...the things we do for the love of horses, right?
In other news...1 day...56 min til HARRY POTTER!!!!!

Harry Potter/Riding/Birthdays/I can't wait for HARRY POTTER!!!111!!!
Jul. 17th, 2007 | 11:35 pm
music: "Missing you" Alison Krauss
First off, Harry Potter 5 was awesome! I haven't had a chance to post about it up til now, but I went to the midnight showing and OMG it was amazing. My dad has promised to take me to San Francisco to see it in IMAX! I can't wait to see the totally major battle scene in 3D.
Then, the next morning (well, that morning I guess, lol...whatever, Wednesday) I had a lesson. I got to ride the barn owner's own show horse. I asked if he was in the lesson program and was told that only the special, more advanced students who can be trusted not to pull and kick like a nutcase. Ooooo...I'm special!
Shortly thereafter, I was jumping a 1'9 (21 inches) verticle at the canter. My first time over 1 foot, and my first cantered verticle...in one day! I still have a habit of jumping a bit ahead (trying to jump for the horse? lol), but we will work on that and it was better at the end of the lesson than at the beginning so...that made me happy. I will have to have a new summer riding goal as the previous one was 1'6.
That night was my birthday part at Sakura, my favorite sushi place. It was good to spend time with Terra, Nichole, Allison and Lilian. I totally love that resturant, OMG! They have a ton of shrimp and crab stuff, which is good because I am allergic to fish, but I can have shellfish.
This sunday for dinner, my cousins from Ohio were in town because their grandma (on their mom's side) had died. They came to my grandma's with their mom, which was cool. I can't believe one of my cousins wants to become a lawyer for the environmental lobby (*shock* *horror*), but hey, whatever makes her happy. It was neat to meet my aunt's new husband and stepson.
Today was my mom's birthday! *smiles* We went out for Mexican, and we will be going to a nice dinner in the city when my dad has the day off.
In other news it's supposted to rain tomorrow. Rain...in July...in CALI-FUCKING-FORNIA? WTF? I seriously hope not because I have a lesson.
Oh...and HARRY POTTER on Saturday...W00T!!!!
